The Granddaddy Purple (GDP) Indica strain is a cross between the Purple Urkle and the Big Bud. The blend between these two popular strains is the reason for its complex grape and berry aroma. This strain entered the West Coast in 2003 has a compact bud structure and over-sized nugs which are fuzzy, incredibly dense and have purple hues all round. This strain was developed by a Californian breeder Ken Estes for sale in the marijuana market.
The nugs of the Granddaddy Purple are covered by orange hairs and is primarily used for medical marijuana as a result of its THC content (20 to 23%) and is a very effective treatment for a lot of medical conditions.

Granddaddy Purple can be grown both indoors and outdoors and blossoms more in a controlled environment. The strain produces high yields in both soil and hydro setups. For those who want to grow this strain outdoors, take note that the strain has to be grown in consistently warm weather (20 to 25 degrees on average) in order to produce the best yields. When grown indoors, Granddaddy Purple yields up to 500g per square meter grow up to 75cm tall. Outdoors, this strain may grow a full kilo. The flowering time for this strain is somewhere around 9 weeks.
